Mediator / Arbitrator

Malcolm Reid was most recently associated with the law firm of Gray, Plant, Mooty, Mooty and Bennett as a Partner from 1995 – 2008. His primary areas of practice were in business, finance and transactions as well as patents, trademarks, copyrights, computer law, and related litigation and licensing. Mr. Reid brings a wealth of experience to Gilbert Mediation having been a mediator and arbitrator since 1994 focusing in the areas of business and intellectual property matters.

Mr. Reid’s prior experience includes work as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Network Systems Corporation and also organizing sales and distributorships throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He also served as General Counsel and Secretary for Fabri-Tek Corporation which manufactured computer hardware and electronic components for the computer industry. Mr. Reid also served as Attorney in the Office of General Counsel for 3M Corporation working as legal counsel for the Chemical Resource Division and the Commercial Chemical Division, the Engineering and Construction Department and the Eastern Heights Bank (a 3M subsidiary).

Mr. Reid is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. He also received his B. S. degree from the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering. He was admitted to practice in the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 1974. He also holds a professional engineering registration certificate since 1979.

A strong sense of community service has kept Mr. Reid engaged in various organizations as a member of the Board of Directors of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District; as Mayor of the City of Tonka Bay; as Chair of the South Lake Minnetonka Public Safety Department; on the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District Board; as a member of the Three Rivers Park District Board; and, as a member of the Governor’s Lake Minnetonka Task Force.

Mr. Reid is a Qualified Neutral under Minnesota Rule 114 and a licensed attorney in Minnesota.
